2017 Holiday Gift Guide: Kitchen Edition

Need some inspiration for gift giving this year? I’m working on a few lists to help get you going. Now…it only makes sense that I start with a gift list for the kitchen, right? This is a food blog after all. Let’s get started with my 2017 Holiday Gift Guide: Kitchen Edition!

(Or, if you are the cook/baker in your life, consider these for your own personal wish list! :) I’ve also included some fun ideas for bundling items into themes.

Silpat Silicone Baking Mat– Great for non-stick baking. Reusable. Easy to clean. This is the perfect size to fit into a half sheet pan. Also great for making chocolate candies (like peanut clusters.) When the chocolate sets, it removes cleanly from the surface.

OXO Steel Spatula– This is my single favorite spatula. It’s my go to for cookies and pancakes. It’s nice and thin so it’s easy to get under food. I’ll be honest. I only use my other spatulas if this one is in the dishwasher.

Nordic Ware Natural Aluminum Commercial Baker’s Half Sheet Pan-These are work horses in my kitchen. They are my go to for cookie baking as well as roasting vegetables. We transport ingredients on them or use them to stage iced cookies to dry. They’re pretty much the only sheet pans I use anymore. And because of that, I now have six of them so that I always have one ready to go!

OXO Good Grips Medium Cookie Scoop-The easiest way to drop cookie dough on a pan. You’ll get uniform sizes, which will give you uniform baking. I think it’s much faster than using spoons.

Double Sided Measuring Spoons – I have lots of measuring spoons. This is one of the sets I love. The narrow end fits easily into spice jars. The round end works for everything else.

All-Clad Stainless Steel Measuring Cups-This is my favorite set of measuring cups. They are sturdy and have a nice clean edge to scrape a knife across for leveling dry ingredients.

Cookie Baking Gift Bundle

KitchenAid Artisan Series 5-Qt. Stand Mixer with Pouring Shield – One of the single best splurgey gifts I’ve ever received. If you have a baker on your list that you want to spoil, this mixer will be life changing.

Wusthof Come Apart Kitchen Shears-I have an earlier model, but these are my favorite kitchen shears. They’re sharp, sturdy and cut whatever I need easily. I love that they come apart for cleaning. You don’t have to worry that yucky things are getting trapped in between the blades. I’ve had mine for over 10 years and they are still going strong.

Wilton Recipe Right Nonstick 12 cup Regular Muffin Pan– A must for any baker. Perfect for muffins, cupcakes, egg bakes and baked oatmeal cups.

Parchment Baking Cups-Hands down my favorite liner. They release cupcakes and muffins cleaner than any other liner I’ve tried. Great add on if you’re picking up a muffin tin.

Muffin Scoop-This quarter cup scoop makes filling cups with muffin or cupcake batter so much easier!

Muffin/Cupcake Gift Bundle

1Easylife Endurance 18/8 Stainless Steel Coffee Scoop– This is a 2 Tablespoon measurement. I love measuring spoons that are odd sizes. If you bake a lot, it’s nice to have just the measurement you need. If you have a recipe that calls for 6 Tablespoons, it’s just easier to reach for this spoon and count less scoops. This measurement is also equal to 1/8 cup, which is great when you come across that odd measurement in a recipe. I have a couple of measuring spoons in this size that get used for pretty much everything except coffee!

Measuring Cup and Spoon Set-I don’t own this particular set but I think it’s  a great choice if you don’t want to invest in the more expensive All Clad set mentioned above. I love that they are engineered in one piece, nothing to come apart and easier to clean (no crevices!) And, you get both the cups and the spoons. The spoons also have a nice narrow shape for dipping into small spice jars.

Pineapple Corer-For your fresh fruit lover! This is a great tool that really works. Makes the decision to buy fresh pineapple an easy one. Fun gift addition to a fruit basket! (Or, maybe a great tool to kick off healthy eating in the new year.)

Cuisinart Mini Prep Plus-This is a newer model of the one I own. I have a large food processor as well, but honestly, this smaller model is the one that gets used most often. If the person you’re buying for doesn’t have a food processor, this is a great place to start.

Nordic Ware Platinum Collection Anniversary Bundt Pan-Every baker needs a good bundt pan. I like this one because it has a capacity for 10-15 cups. No more guessing whether your recipe will fit in the pan.

NoCry Cut Resistant Gloves-This is a recommendation from my sister. These are perfect when you’re cutting something difficult like a butternut squash, shucking oysters or using a mandoline. (You know, whenever you’re afraid you’re going to lose a finger.) They’re also great for those who love to cook or use sharp edges to craft but have unsteady hands. These will help keep their hands safe.

Silicone Basting Brushes-I just bought this set. I had similar brush in white that somehow got lost. I love these because they work well and are easy to clean. I use them for brushing cream onto scones or buttermilk onto biscuits before they bake. Or, use them to brush melted butter onto pastries or barbeque sauce onto meats.

Toastess Cordless Warming Tray-This is a great gift for the entertainer, the person on your list who hosts all the big dinners. Perfect for buffet style parties or for keeping food warm when you bring it to the family dinner table. It heats up in minutes! Then, just unplug it and set it wherever you need it. You don’t have to worry about being close to an outlet. I also like that the design is clean and modern, so it doesn’t scream ugly appliance. I bought this for my sister and she loves it! The photo shows the larger 4 plate size. For my sister, the 3 plate size was perfect!

Extra Long Professional Silicone Oven Mitts– These are nice, extra long mitts to give you a little more protection when reaching into an oven. And, the non-slip grip will help make sure you don’t lose hold of the pan.

That’s it for the 2017 Holiday Gift Guide: Kitchen Edition! Stay tuned…I’ve got more ideas coming your way!
