About

For my entire professional career, I was a retail merchant.  I worked in stores as a manager, in corporate offices as a buyer and eventually as a senior executive leading a team of buyers, designers, product developers and technicians.  I worked for major department stores and specialty stores and was part of a team that built a company that disrupted an industry.  I’ve traveled the world identifying trends and worked with my team to turn our vision into beautiful product for our customers.  After many years in the business, I chose to take a break from the corporate world and move in a new direction.

I’ve always loved to bake.  My parents were great cooks and the kitchen was our gathering place where we shared in the making of our meals.  I created my first “recipe” when I was 6.  It was a marshmallow cut in half with crumbled Cheetos sandwiched between the sticky layers.   A minute in the oven on broil and voila!  Marshmallow Cheese Puffs!  I was ecstatic with the toasted sweet salty crunchy gooey result and proceeded to make a full tray of them for my family.  They dutifully raved about my creation and had to partake in my “signature recipe” multiple times over the following year.

My interest only grew stronger over time as I developed a deep interest in researching, making, tasting, recreating and perfecting recipes. Even during my tenure as a retail executive working 24/7, I found time to bake.  I would bake over 1400 cookies each holiday season to create trays for each of my divisions, and for teachers, family and friends.  Looking back, I really don’t know how I fit it all in.  I guess you always find time to do things you love to do.

My passion for baking continues; I’ve always loved cooking and good food …. and I often miss my career as a merchant.  The consistent theme for me is a love of creating, reinventing, perfecting and sharing whether it’s product for a customer, food for family and friends or a party for one of our children. The creative gene runs in my family from my parents to my siblings to the man I married and now to our children.  Trust me, when you let creativity run rampant in your home, it makes for an interesting and fun life…

As a very private person, blogging seems an unlikely next step for me.  I’ve thought about it for quite some time and decided that life is a journey and this blog need only be one of many chapters to come.   I have lots to share…let’s see where this journey takes us!
