1o Apple and Spice Recipes for Fall

Now that it’s officially fall, I thought I’d round up some recipes from the archives to celebrate the season.

Apple and Spice Recipes

There’s a little something for everyone. I’ve got muffins and cakes and bar cookies and cobblers, rustic pies and caramel sauce. There’s even a tempting skinny recipe! I’m going to kick the list off with an easy dessert dip…

Caramel Apple Pie Cheesecake Dip with fresh apple pie topping, a no bake cheesecake layer, drizzled with caramel sauce and trimmed with cookies for dipping!

Caramel Apple Pie Cheesecake Dip– This no bake dessert is as impressive as it is easy. A layer of no bake cheesecake is topped with a simple stove top apple pie filling made from scratch. Drizzle with caramel sauce and serve with cookies or graham crackers. You’ll be shocked at  how good this is!

Dutch Apple Pie Muffins. A whole wheat applesauce muffin piled high with chopped apples and buttery crumb topping.

Dutch Apple Pie Muffins– Tender muffins are topped with a pile of tiny diced apples. They’re not mixed into the batter, they bake on top of the muffin so you get a hearty bite that’s chock full of tender baked apples. A buttery crumb topping makes that bite even better.

10 Minute Buttermilk Caramel Sauce Round 2. This rich, buttery caramel sauce comes together in minutes. Round 2 has been updated with step by step photos.

10 Minute Buttermilk Caramel Sauce– Okay. This isn’t apple OR spice but heck, it’s pretty much everything nice. I will be a broken record for the life of this blog about this sauce. It’s a quick and easy pathway to warm buttery caramel sauce and you will put it on everything. In fact, you will see it drizzled over many apple treats on this post.

Whole Wheat Pear Cobbler. Sweet juicy pears baked with a delicious crispy topped, tender middle whole wheat topping. A warm, comforting fall dessert!

Whole Wheat Pear Cobbler– Ahh, let’s not forget about pears this season. They can go everywhere an apple can which means they’ve been welcomed into this post. This cobbler has the redeeming quality of a whole wheat cobbler topping. We’ve loved this cobbler for years. Make it in individual portions as I did for this post, or throw it all in one pan (as I normally do.) Then, serve it warm and top it with some good vanilla ice cream. Pure comfort food!

Spiced Applesauce Cake! This delicious cake doesn’t need any sauce. It’s perfect and amazingly delicious on its own but make the sauce anyway :)

Spiced Applesauce Cake– I just mentioned this cake in my 2nd anniversary post. It’s a deliciously spiced, moist cake that uses applesauce. That’s right, no chopping apples for this one. It’s great plain, you could frost it, or just drizzle some warm Buttermilk Caramel Sauce over it and begin to swoon. (I also want to mention that while the apple on top of the cake was really just for photography purposes, we were all fighting for a piece of it to go along with our cake! I mean, it might be pretty and all, but it’s still a caramel apple, right?)

Cinnamon Apple Cake. Chock full of apples, this cake gets a wonderful richness from cream cheese and a spicy sweetness from a dusting of cinnamon sugar.

Cinnamon Apple Cake– This cake was also mentioned in my anniversary post as my favorite apple cake. The photos are from the early days, but if you missed my plug for it last week, take note. This is an uber delicious and easy apple cake. It’s perfect if you like a moist rich apple cake that’s not oily. So many apple cake recipes are laden with tons of oil. This one is not and delivers lots of fresh apple flavor. It was such a hit with one of my readers, she made it three times in one week!

Cinnamon Sugar Doughnut Muffins. Cake doughnut batter baked in a muffin pan, then dipped into melted butter and rolled in cinnamon sugar.

Cinnamon Sugar Doughnut Muffins– These addictive little muffins are actually made with the batter you would use to make a cake doughnut. We’re just skipping the doughnut pan and making it easy for everyone. Dip the tops in melted butter and take ’em for a roll in some cinnamon sugar. I dare you to just eat one!

Caramel Apple Crostatas. Mini apple "tarts" made with my super easy all butter pie dough, then drizzled with warm salted caramel sauce!

Caramel Apple Crostatas– Individual rustic apple tarts of sorts. Chopped up apples sit atop my easy all butter pie crust. If you’re intimidated by crust, try my recipe. The process of rolling before chilling makes child’s play out of pie crust. As far as the apples? I know you know how to chop them :) Make the crust. Fill it with apples. Bake. Drizzle with caramel sauce. Then marvel at your rustic, but delicious creation. I taught my sister how to make this crust and she was amazed at it’s simplicity.

Skinny Apple Pie Won Tons. Two ways to make a delicious guilt free treat, one under 65 calories, the other under 35!

Skinny Apple Pie Wontons– You want to satisfy a craving for apple pie but you don’t want to splurge? These cute little treats are packed with apple pie yum but have less than 35 or 65 calories each, depending upon which version you make. Oh, and because you’re using ready made wonton wrappers, there’s no crust to make!

Vanilla Chai Sugar Cookie Bars. The sugar cookie bar you love made with vanilla chai tea and warm spices.

Vanilla Chai Sugar Cookie Bars– You know all those frosted sugar cookie bars that were the rage a few (or more) years ago? This is a grown up version. No colored icing or sprinkles here, just nicely spiced sugar cookie bars flavored with vanilla chai tea. A creamy chai spiced frosting tops it off and makes for a sweet little fall treat.
