Classic Banana Bread

It’s a new year and I’ve got a new post for you…Classic Banana Bread.

Classic Banana Bread. This classic quick bread is chock full of banana flavor and updated with whole grains and Greek yogurt.

I know it’s not the most likely first of the year posts, being that this is the time of year that everyone is embarking on healthy resolutions. But hey, I’ve lightened up this recipe a bit and it’s whole grain, so it’s not like I’m offering up a hot fudge brownie sundae in the first week of January. (Yeah, sorry about conjuring up that visual, especially if you’re munching on carrot sticks while reading this ;)

At the risk of sounding cliche, I’m starting the year with my on going philosophy…everything in moderation. Hopefully, that’s… Continue reading

Egg Nog Scones with White Chocolate Egg Nog Ganache

Today’s recipe is dedicated to my avid scone fans and of course, all of those readers who love egg nog.

Egg Nog Scones with White Chocolate Egg Nog Ganache. Rich, buttery egg nog scones are drizzled with a creamy ganache & spiced with freshly grated nutmeg!

We’re still thinking about breakfast choices over here and clearly I’ve got egg nog on the brain having just posted Egg Nog Crumb Muffins. Today, I’ve got some Egg Nog Scones drizzled with White Chocolate Egg Nog Ganache for you. Yes…all the yummy words right in a row…Egg Nog! Yum! Scones! Hearts forever! Egg Nog Ganache?!? But of course!

I’ve wanted to make scones with egg nog for a while now. It seems like a natural choice. After all, my typical scone recipe includes cream. Egg nog is rich,… Continue reading

Egg Nog Crumb Muffins

Let’s start planning a holiday breakfast with these Egg Nog Crumb Muffins!

Egg Nog Crumb Muffins, rich with egg nog, topped with big chunks of sweet buttery crumbs, then graced with a dusting of confectioner's sugar.

I’m kind of done talking about cookies. Okay, maybe not done, but I finally finished all of my cookie baking, or at least I think I have. It’s always such a big feat to get through baking a ton of cookies. It seems like a giant mountain to climb each year. It’s a fun climb, but a climb none the less. Just as I finish, though, I start wanting to bake more, because now I’m only thinking about the latest new recipe I want to develop. One more recipe seems like “nothing” after conquering a long… Continue reading

Cranberry Orange Sweet Roll

Yikes! It’s the week of Thanksgiving! Do you know what you’re having for breakfast that day?

Cranberry Orange Sweet Roll. No yeast, no rising, no waiting! Just fluffy biscuit dough filled with cranberry sauce and flavored with fresh orange zest.

What?!? You haven’t even thought about it? Let me help you out with that…How about this Cranberry Orange Sweet Roll?

Why am I thinking about breakfast for the big day? Well, for the first time in quite a few years, I am not hosting the big meal. I have, however, been requested to bring a dessert :) And I’ve been thinking about that for that past couple of weeks. You know I’ve been on a pumpkin streak with all kinds of treats, and wouldn’t you know that the hosts already have pumpkin covered? That’s… Continue reading

Pumpkin Biscuit Sticky Buns

I made these Pumpkin Biscuit Sticky Buns as redemption for a handful of recent apple recipe fails.

Pumpkin Biscuit Sticky Buns. No yeast, no rising, no waiting! Spiced and fragrant with orange zest, pecans and maple caramel sauce top it off!

I had planned to share one new and wonderful apple recipe before I started down the road into pumpkin land, but it just wasn’t in the cards. Yep, grand plans. It all sounded so good in my head, but I had a couple of disasters…edible disasters, but disasters none the less.

In one case, I took my gorgeous apple creation out of the pan and even started to shoot it…until I realized that the middle did NOT fully cook and was just a mess of raw dough. Ugh! I looked at it and… Continue reading

Waffle Frittatas

Waffle Frittatas are my latest experiment in the “Can you waffle it?” category.

Waffle Frittatas. Fluffy Frittatas from your waffle iron? Eggs, potatoes, cheese and scallions come together for a hearty, quick and easy, all in one meal.

It’s not like I’m obsessed with waffling things, although I admit I have been intrigued by some of the things I’ve seen people waffle. (Warning: I shall be using “waffle” as both a noun and a verb throughout the post :) The truth is, I love waffles, the traditional ones, that is. My favorite waffle is malted and golden and crispy on the outside, moist and tender on the inside.

Waffle Frittatas. Fluffy Frittatas from your waffle iron? Eggs, potatoes, cheese and scallions come together for a hearty, quick and easy, all in one meal.

I can’t remember what inspired me to waffle a frittata. I didn’t even google it. I’m sure I’m not the first. At this point, I think just… Continue reading

Lemon Ricotta Crumb Cake

I’m hoping this Lemon Ricotta Crumb Cake sticks out from the myriad of back to school snacks, pumpkin and apple treats that are so popular this time of year.

Lemon Ricotta Crumb Cake. The perfect marriage of fresh citrus and rich ricotta cheese, topped with a buttery shortbread cookie crumb topping!

Is there a season for lemons? I get the taste for citrus in the winter months…hmmm…and I guess in the spring and definitely in the summer too. Probably not in the fall so much? Nah…Who am I kidding? I’d never turn down a lemon treat (especially a good lemon square :) I suppose I’m always in the mood for lemons.

I mean, is there anything better than a spoonful of buttery lemon curd? How about swirling it up with some… Continue reading

Blueberry Cream Cheese Muffins

Blueberry Cream Cheese Muffins

What’s better than waking up to some warm Blueberry Cream Cheese Muffins?

Blueberry Cream Cheese Muffins-9

I remember waking up as a kid, becoming slowly aware of the aroma of hot fresh baked blueberry muffins wafting into my room. I loved blueberry muffins and I knew that smell anywhere. I would lie there thinking, “Are those blueberry muffins I smell or am I dreaming?” Then, I would leave my comfy bed with both reluctance and anticipation because I had to confirm that hot muffins were definitely on the horizon.

Blueberry Cream Cheese Muffins-11

I love all muffins, but blueberry might be my favorite. I don’t know if it’s the gorgeous color of the berries and the… Continue reading

Sour Cream Chive Biscuits

Sour Cream Chive Biscuits

My CSA strikes again with these yummy Sour Cream Chive Biscuits.

Sour Cream Chive Biscuits-16

When I saw we had chives in our CSA basked a couple of weeks back, I was thrilled. I love fresh chives. They are mandatory when I make baked potatoes. My kids are completely on board with that. I always have to make sure I chop up enough because those chives get generously spooned on top of hot buttery spuds.

Then when I opened up our weekly CSA box and saw the chive BLOSSOMS? Those pretty purple flowers were gracefully sitting atop the longest, most graceful chive stems I had ever seen! I was so excited! I knew I… Continue reading

Blackberry Fontina Basil Scones

Blackberry Fontina Basil Scones

You’re probably wondering what could have possessed me to come up with this recipe for Blackberry Fontina Basil Scones.

Blackberry Fontina Basil Scones REV-3

It’s simple. They were inspired by an obsession. An obsession with a particular grilled cheese sandwich from Jessica over at How Sweet It Is. It’s been three years since her post and I’m still crazy over that sandwich. I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned it before, but this sandwich…ugh. So good. I even posted it on instagram last year. Yes, if I could write a love song to a sandwich, I might start with some heartfelt lyrics about this one.

Blackberry Fontina Basil Scones

There’s something about the combination of sweet blackberries, slightly… Continue reading
